MANHATTAN MECHANICAL TRAINING FACILITY IN FINAL PHASE OF DEVELOPMENT

As one of the leading merit shop contractors, Manhattan Mechanical stays committed to building a team of multi-skilled professionals with a sharp focus on quality and thorough training programs.

MANHATTAN, IL (OCTOBER 4, 2022) —

When an old bank building went out of business down the street from the Manhattan office, CEO Mike Uremovich saw an opportunity to expand the training horizon with the decision to remodel the building into a world-class training facility.

Manhattan Mechanical Services is committed to building a trained and certified workforce of craft professionals who can provide our customers with support in multiple craft areas.

Sitting at 25630 Gougar Road in Manhattan, Illinois, the new training facility is connected to Manhattan Mechanical’s original office and is open to existing team members and new hires. The facility can house multiple training classes in the area of core curriculum with basic level construction classes, levels one through four pipe fitting, and levels one and two of boiler making.

The facility has a larger classroom/computer lab, as well as an additional lab large enough to conduct two classes at the same time. With the increase in space, Manhattan Mechanical can operate as many as three training classes simultaneously.

Facility to benefit community

The upgrade benefits the Manhattan Mechanical team, and the hope is to provide a space for the community to utilize the facility for the next generation of craftsmen and women.

Local school districts will have the opportunity to train during allotted times in specialized craft classes, providing a starting point for a successful career path in the trades.

Final phase to the project on track

With the remodel nearing the finish line, the final project of the training facility is the conversion of the bank’s drive-thru into a welding training area, with the projected completion timeline being 8-10 weeks.

Although the remodel is still in progress, Manhattan Mechanical hosted a kick-off night on September 14th. The enrolled trainees could visit the facility and meet some of the Manhattan Mechanical team. Trainees were treated to dinner while Uremovich spoke about the training program.

The first official core curriculum class began on September 19th, with 30 people enrolled in the program.

Manhattan Mechanical Services utilizes the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum for employee training and education. Manhattan Mechanical Services is an Accredited Training Sponsor and an Accredited Assessment Center through NCCER.
